A MOSAIC OF EARTH,
FROM 10,000 EYES

High resolution eye images now available for download

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND ART

The Eyes of Gaia project uses 10,000 high-resolution images of human irises, manually photographed, to power an artificial intelligence that searches the world for locations that correlate with each eye, resulting in a mosaic of our planet that demonstrates how we are all connected to our world.

Each of us carries two unique paintings in our heads, full of color and form, that strongly resemble the surface of Earth as seen from space.

Since 2002, artist James Carlson has photographed eyes around the world. His collection of images is now available for you to explore, and the high-resolution source images are available for you to download if you make a donation supporting this project.

Support the artist and support the art by participating: invite James to photograph eyes at your workplace or event, purchase the high resolution images of your eyes, or buy high quality products made with images of your eyes.
