MiXiT Conference, Lyon

In 2018, I was contacted by organizers of the renowned MiXiT Conference in Lyon, celebrating its 9th year of connecting technologists and developers to share and expand their knowledge. As a veteran of many conferences (and unconferences) I was incredibly impressed with how this event was managed — it is one of the top conferences I’ve ever attended. The hospitality of the Lyonnaise is unmatched!

During the conference I gave a presentation on the trajectories of third places like makerspaces and hackerspaces based on my experiences starting and supporting these kinds of places in the United States.

Then I was able to photograph hundreds of eyes, greatly expanding the collection. It was a real pleasure to talk with technical people about the back-end process of evolving the Eyes of Gaia project. I look forward to attending MiXiT again in 2020!
